I’m probably going to pay for that, but since I’m already paying, I’m calling him out!
You probably know Mercury, if in no other form, as the FTD Delivery icon. He was also the ancient Roman god of trade and travel. Fast forward: if we were handing out god portfolios today, Mercury would be in charge of travel, communication and even computers (think the travel of information). According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac website: “In astrology, Mercury…is cunning and witty at a moment’s notice. But he is also recognized as a trickster and prone to misbehavior.”
Right now Mercury the planet is in retrograde, which is to say it appears to be moving backwards in the sky. The retrograde is Nov 6 – Nov 26, and when Mercury is in retrograde things within the domain of Mercury go haywire.
Let me give you some examples:
To welcome the retrograde, my laptop went kaput. It tangled, unsuccessfully, with a glass of red wine, and is a lost cause. Being the joker that he is, Mercury had me go through five days of stress before I managed to at least secure the content.
Next, my cell phone. My second new cell phone, for the record (remember the morning I spent with the folks at Verizon?). It started with reminder notices for events that happened days, even weeks ago. I had a barrage of pop-ups about a host of events…all in the past. Then one morning I woke up and my phone said it was December-something-1969. Who knew cell phones even dated back that far…. After three days of living with a phone in “safe mode” (think no apps…no twitter app, no wordpress app, no game apps), the phone is being replaced, again.
On my first day with my new phone I head to Wednesday night’s writing class. As I’m pulling into the garage at what I know, based on the darkness of the daylight-savings hour is 7:30 PM, my car reads 7:30 AM. Not tragic, but I have no idea how to correct for it, and neither does my car, because it is still stuck. (By the way, my writing instructor also met with a computer-related snafu that evening, so it’s not just me!)
Somewhere in there my coffee maker also shut down. I haven’t figure out exactly how Mercury can be held accountable for that one, but I’m pretty confident it’s a thing.
I am invariably hit hard my Mercury retrogrades, so I’m curious to see what’s in store for me next, but I know that it will continue to be quite a ride until the planet rights itself again, which can’t happen soon enough for me!
May your retrograde be easy!
