Let’s Get Physical…

SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO MY ILLINI PEEPS!

KNOW ANYONE DOWNSTATE WHO CAN HELP?

ARMY OF WOMEN: STUDY OF THE MONTH!

BEAT Cancer Study

The Army of Women is looking for breast cancer survivors in central Illinois to evaluate a new physical activity program!

Many women find that breast cancer affects their quality of life both during and after treatment. Research has shown that physical activity after breast cancer improves quality of life, reduces fatigue, and may reduce a women’s risk of breast cancer recurrence or death. This study is evaluating a new program called BEAT Cancer. It was developed by a research team at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL, and they hope it will help increase physical activity adherence among breast cancer survivors.

We have recruited for this study in the past but the researchers still need more women to sign up!  If you are female, have been diagnosed with Stage 0 (DCIS), I, II, or IIIa breast cancer, are NOT currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and live in central Illinois, please click to learn more about the BEAT Cancer program.
